You don’t need to have a grand entrance or sweeping front porch to make a big first impression for your home. Seasonal décor, impactful hardware, wreaths, and accent pieces surrounding your front door can completely transform your entryway. Here are 5 of our favorite ways to decorate your front door on any budget.

Upgraded Door Hardware

We like to think of hardware like jewelry for your home. The right hardware can elevate your front door’s style and be the perfect finishing touch. Think beyond the doorknob or handle and consider more decorative elements like stylish house numbers, a coordinating metal kickplate, or our personal favorite, a unique door knocker!

Decorative Doormat

Don’t get us wrong, welcome doormats can be, well, welcoming! But, if you are wanting to branch out and try something new, replacing your doormat can be a cost-effective way to add a jolt to your entryway. Express your personality with patterned mats, non-traditional shapes, or doormats with humorous phrases. One trend we are loving right now is layering doormats. Place a larger outdoor rug underneath your doormat to add depth, texture, and a double layer of style. Monogrammed doormats are another great idea and can help visitors easily identify your home among neighboring houses or condos.

Luxe Lighting

The lighting outside of your home is just as important as the lighting inside your home. Updating your outdoor sconces or adding a statement pendant can completely change the vibe of your front porch. Or, if you are looking for an easy, low-commitment way to add some light, consider adding a cluster of lanterns with candles by your front steps.

Mounted Shutters

Mounting shutters to flank your front door is best suited for certain architectural styles. If your sweeping front porch or southern-style home can pull them off, we say go for it because it can be absolute magic! Shutters have a big visual impact and help create a grand entrance. They can also be a great way to bring color to an otherwise neutral palette.

Seasonal Décor & Wreaths

When most people think of front door décor, they automatically think of seasonal items. There is a good reason for that – decorating your door for the holidays is fun and always looks great! Many people go all out for Halloween or Christmas, but you really can deck the halls all year round. From hearts for Valentine’s Day to a hanging basket with flowers for spring and a summer-themed plaque, the options are endless. Let your creativity run wild!
