Secondhand clothing stores, or thrift stores, or consignment shops, can be a real treasure trove for barely-worn clothes, shoes, and accessories, along with great vintage finds. In our area in particular, vintage finds that are now back in style make up the majority of carefully curated selections at secondhand shops. Here’s where to start digging:

Buffalo Exchange

Buy, sell, and trade at Buffalo Exchange on Central Avenue. This vintage store has been open since 2011 and includes a variety of new, secondhand, vintage, online-only items, and handmade pieces. Find both men and women’s clothing, along with shoes, outerwear, and accessories.

The Rat’s Nest

The Rat’s Nest off 36th Street in NoDa is an old-school treasure trove, featuring records, toys, and electronics along with clothing, concert tees, and vintage sportswear. Tour shirts and music merchandise awaits, along with a large selection of shoes.

Salvation Army Family Store

Plaza Midwood is home to one of the Salvation Army Family Stores in Charlotte. Shop gently used clothing and other homegoods, while supporting a great cause at the same time. New items arrive daily, and you can keep the giving going by donating goods as well.
