Sure, we will admit that we secretly (OK, not so secretly) have loved wearing a lot of leggings over the last several months, but it also feels really good to wake up, get dressed and put on makeup to feel more like ourselves again. If you too are ready to reemerge, you are in luck. We sat down with local fashion stylist Sarah Farber and beauty experts Sabrina and Charisse of LookLove Beauty to get a download on all of the fall trends you can expect to see.

Fall Fashion Trend #1: Plaid

Every fall we feel the urge to wear plaid and this year is no different. Adding a plaid dress or midi skirt to your wardrobe is a great way to incorporate print without going over the top. Throw on a plaid button-down with jeans and booties for casual day wear or add a plaid blazer or coat over your little black dress for a night out.

Fall Fashion Trend #2: Puff Sleeve

Puff sleeves are one of the biggest fashion trends in 2020. Make a statement by wearing a Ulla Johnson puff sleeve dress with wrap sandals into October or throw on a white Sea sheer puff sleeve top with ripped jeans to create an effortlessly chic outfit. A long sleeve cotton dress (like this one from Target!) is a great option if you want to participate in this trend in a more subtle way – throw on with sneakers and a jean jacket around your waist and you’re ready to roll.

Fall Fashion Trend #3: Color of the Year

Pantone’s Color of the Year is Classic Blue and you can find it everywhere in 2020 from home decor to fashion. This color looks great worn from head-to-toe or just as a single pop of bold color in a fun accessory like a belt or pair of earrings.

Fall Fashion Trend #4: Western Vibes

This isn’t your everyday western wear! Cowboy boots, natural hues with turquoise accents, distressed denim, vests and ponchos, and felt hats are all things we are seeing mixed in with fall fashion. Take note from the ever-stylish equestrians by pairing tailored tall boots with a slim pant with a crisp button-down and a blazer for a more polished vibe.

Fall Fashion Trend #5: High/Low

Following fashion trends is fun, but if you aren’t 100% sold, try mixing higher and lower-priced items to create a look you love. Splurge on pieces you can wear often and plan to wear for multiple seasons. Save on trendy items that you think might not stay in your closet for long.

Don’t worry, guys! We haven’t forgotten you.

Here are the biggest Fall Fashion Trends for Men:

Fall Beauty Trend #1: Fluffy Brows

A LookLove favorite that they hope never goes out of style. Grab a brand like Soap Brows (yes, actual soap!) dip a clean spoolie in a bit of water, shake off excess and brush it up and down in the tin can. Finish by fluffing the brows in an upward motion. You instantly look younger because it lifts the eyes.

Fall Beauty Trend #2: Baby Waves

Baby waves are a transitional style that were super trendy for summer and can carry over to fall with more relaxed waves. You can create them by using a straightener on low heat and moving the hair in a curved formation and clamping down with flat iron on the hair in random sections throughout the hair or by using a beach waver and gently running a straightener over the waves to look like they have been lived in for a few days. Add your favorite texturizing spray when finished!

Fall Beauty Trend #3: Black Eyeliner

Whether it is smudged, precise-lined, or winged out, black eyeliner is perfect for fall! This trend has been around for decades, but made its way back to the runway for 2020. Sabrina and Charisse especially love Marc Jacobs and Charlotte Tilbury’s black liners. They are both super creamy and easy to smudge with a brush if you struggle to create a clean line. This look can also be worn solo without eyeshadow, which is nice when you’re in a rush!

Fall Beauty Trend #4: Clean Beauty Brands

More and more brands are starting to transition product ingredients to clean, organic, vegan, and cruelty-free, and we could not be happier about it! This means finding more natural solutions for cosmetic challenges that would otherwise be solved with chemical ingredients that not only can be damaging to our skin, but the environment as well. Brands to be on the lookout for that are already trending are Ilia Beauty, Kosas, and Aether Beauty.

Men’s Fall Grooming Trend: Jade Rollers

Men should be able to enjoy pampering themselves as well. Guys, buy yourself a jade roller and keep it in the fridge! You can find these anywhere including Amazon for less than $20. When you wake up and are feeling a bit puffy, take the roller out of the fridge and gently roll it around on the face and neck. The pressure stimulates circulation and leaves the face feeling relaxed. Bonus: it also allows for lymphatic drainage. This is an easy quick stress release and leaves you feeling ready for the day or wind down in the evening!
