Are you ready for a fresh start in 2021? We certainly are and one great way to start anew is by adding some color. Every year, paint companies and color experts alike make their top color predictions based on everything that is happening in design, pop culture, fashion, and home trends. Here are all of the experts’ picks for the 2021 Color of the Year…

Pantone: Ultimate Gray and Illuminating

Pantone broke from tradition and chose two tones instead of a single shade for 2021. Ultimate Gray, a solid and dependable neutral, and a bright and cheerful yellow called Illuminating. Together, they convey a message of enduring strength and optimism after a difficult year for so many.

Benjamin Moore: Aegean Teal

Benjamin Moore selected a soothing blue-green that marries the tranquility associated with blues and the wellness commonly linked to greens. Aegean Teal is reminiscent of water, a known stress reducer, giving you the perfect moment to reset in your home. We are already feeling calmer thanks to this casually-elegant color.

Sherwin-Williams: Urbane Bronze

Sherwin-Williams also hopes to inspire serenity with their gray-brown pick, Urbane Bronze. Their take on a calming color is centered on warmth and comfort rooted in nature. We find this moody and saturated hue encourages reflection, perfect for grounding your space and creating a personal sanctuary.

Graham & Brown: Epoch

Graham & Brown hopes 2021 brings a dramatic change with their decadent plum color selection While decidedly a bold choice, Epoch creates a cocoon effect that feels both rich and luxurious. Of course, if you aren’t ready for that much drama in your home, small applications like the front door pictured below can create a big impact in an otherwise neutral space.

Glidden: Aqua Fiesta

Glidden took a unique approach to the Color of the Year concept by announcing Aqua Fiesta as its first-ever Accent Color of the Year. This aquamarine hue is bright and refreshing and makes a splash when used in small doses. It pairs well with neutral colors that soften its vibrant tone. We particularly like it with a cool gray, which creates an overall spa-like vibe in your space.

PPG: Transcend, Big Cypress, and Misty Aqua

Not to be outdone, PPG announced not one, not two, but three colors in its first-ever Color Palette of the Year. The color trio of Transcend, a warm oatmeal beige, Big Cypress, a subtle ginger orange, and Misty Aqua, is meant to celebrate mindfulness and intention. Combined, these hues are comforting, grounding, and promote wellness in mind, body, and spirit.

HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams: Passionate

Bold reigns yet again with Sherwin-Williams 2021 pick, this time as a part of its popular HGTV Home collection. Passionate is a rich, saturated red that is daring, confident, and elegant. While vibrant, the deep red color, known for its ability to evoke emotion, is surprisingly versatile thanks to its ability to blur the line between modern and traditional.
